On Campus Parking

The visitor parking options that are closest to the Stand Union Building (Conference venue) are the MSU Parking Garage and angled parking on Harrison Street.  There are various ways to pay for parking depending on the location. You can use a parking app or MSU parking Portal to pay for both the MSU Parking Garage and Harrison Street parking (links below).  There are parking kiosks on levels one and two of the MSU Parking Garage that accept credit card payments.  Have your license plate number handy.

MSU Parking Garage

The Parking Garage (10 on the map below), is located behind Norm Asbjornson Hall (corner of South 7th and Grant)

  • Enter the garage and park in a numbered space on the first or second level.
  • Passport Zone: 2361
  • At the end of your visit, you can just drive out – you will not need to show your receipt upon leaving.
  • The parking garage stops charging at 8 p.m. so pay accordingly.
  • The second floor of the parking garage has a covered sky bridge that connects to Norm Hall.
  • As of February 1, 2022, the parking garage is $5 for the first hour, $2.50 each additional hour, or $12 for the whole day.

Harrison Street

  • Parking on Harrison Street requires the use of the Passport Parking App or MSU Parking Portal visitor account, linked above.
  • Passport Zone: 2374
  • As of February 1, 2022, Harrison Street Parking is $4 for the first hour, $1 each additional hour, or $8 for the whole day.

Parking Near Campus

  • Most city streets surrounding campus require a resident permit between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Monday through Friday.
  • College Avenue between 8th and 11th Avenue has a two-hour parking limit between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily and no time limit after 6 p.m.
  • The closest off-campus parking with no time limit and no permit required is on South 8-10th Avenues, several blocks north of campus.
  • There are a very limited number of spaces with no time limit and no permit required on the south side of College Avenue just west of the round-about at 11th Avenue.
  • Willson Avenue is another street near campus where parking does not require a permit or have time limits. It’s a six-block walk from the corner of Willson Avenue and Garfield Avenue to campus.  The walk along Garfield Avenue will take you directly to MSU library and the Strand Union Building.
